At the request of most Rev. Dr. Eugene D’Souza, and at the invitation of one of the local families. Mr. S. Katakwar, Sr. Veronica, the then Provincial and her Councillors decided to open a House at Pipariya.
The first community was housed in a rented building on Sandhya Road. A Nursery School was started in the house itself. Later a new house was built in 1984 and the Sisters shifted in, to continue their teaching apostolate. Still later a few more class rooms were added by the Archdiocese, and as the numbers increased a Primary School was opened. This school belonged to the Archdiocese, but the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery were asked to see to the administration and the running of the school. In 1993, however, the Diocese took over the administration of the school, but the Sisters continued teaching in the School. The original vision of the sisters of St. Joseph was the education of the local children. As time went on a Social work Centre and Mobile Clinic were added as apostolates and the house itself became a welcome house for all the Sisters travelling to and from Pachmarhi.
In 1993 the social work Centre was closed down, and the Sisters have since been engaged in the Prison Ministry, and the visiting of families. The names of the pioneers of the Pipariya House are as follows:-
- Sister Annunciata Kaniampuram- Superior
- Sister Agnes Kuriacose
- Sister Julie Kurishingal
- Sister Anice Pallimattam
